Choosing which emails you receive
Turn off the categories of email you do not want, unsubscribe without signing in, and understand why billing notices are not covered.
Bahriya sends you email about several different things: replies on your support tickets, announcements about new features, warnings when something needs your attention. You can decide which of those reach you.
Open the avatar menu in the top-right corner of the console and choose Your Profile. Your email preferences are in the second section of that page.
Turning a category off
Each preference covers a category of email rather than an individual message, so you do not have to keep making the same decision every time we add something new.
Clear the checkbox next to a category and the change takes effect immediately — there is no separate save step. Tick it again whenever you want those emails back.
Three categories can be switched off:
| Category | What it covers |
|---|---|
| Ticket activity | Activity on support tickets you were added to, or replied on, but did not raise yourself |
| Product announcements | New features, product updates and release notes |
| Marketing | Offers and news about Bahriya. This one is off unless you turn it on |
Unsubscribing straight from an email
You do not have to sign in to stop an email.
Every message we send you carries a link at the bottom. On emails you can unsubscribe from it says Unsubscribe; on the ones you cannot it says Email preferences. Either way it opens a page showing your categories, with no login required — untick what you do not want, or use Unsubscribe from all of these to switch off everything that can be switched off in one go.
Opening that page never changes anything on its own. Your preferences only change when you press one of the buttons, so a link opened by accident — or by your mail provider's link scanner — is harmless.
Some email apps, including Gmail, also show their own Unsubscribe button next to the sender name. That does the same thing as the button on the page: it switches off every category you are allowed to switch off, and leaves the rest.
If a link tells you it is no longer valid, it has most likely been superseded — use the link in a more recent email, or sign in and use your profile page.
Emails you always receive
Below those, you will see a second list showing the categories that cannot be switched off. They are deliberately visible rather than hidden, so you can see exactly what you are still going to receive and why:
| Category | Why it cannot be switched off |
|---|---|
| Account and security | Ownership transfers change who controls an organisation. You need to know when one is proposed, and you need to be able to stop it |
| Billing and payments | Invoices, payment confirmations, balance warnings and service suspensions |
| Legal notices | Changes to our terms, and notices we are required to send |
| Service notices | Maintenance windows, planned restarts and incidents affecting resources you run |
| Your support tickets | Replies on tickets you raised yourself. An answer to your own question is not something we will let you miss |
Note the difference between the last one and Ticket activity. Replies on a ticket you opened always reach you. Activity on a ticket someone else opened and added you to is the part you can mute. There is more on how ticket notifications work in Collaborating on a support ticket.
Billing notices are not covered by these preferences
This is worth being clear about, because it surprises people.
Invoices, payment receipts, balance warnings, dunning reminders and suspension notices are sent to your organisation's email address, not to you personally. That address belongs to the organisation and is set when it is created — so there is no individual preference for us to consult, and switching something off on your profile will not change where those emails go.
If billing email is reaching the wrong place, change the organisation's email address rather than your preferences. If you need it to reach more than one person, open a support ticket and tell us — we would like to know how many people need it.
The same applies to two other emails that arrive before you have an account at all: an invitation to join an organisation, and an early-access code. Neither is attached to a profile yet, so neither is covered here.
Your name and email address
The top section of the profile page shows your name, email address and username, and they are read-only.
Those details come from your Mamluk account, which is the single place your identity lives — Bahriya keeps a copy so it can address you correctly, and refreshes it each time you sign in. Use the Manage in your Mamluk account link to change them. The next time you sign in, the new details appear in Bahriya, on your invoices and in the emails we send you.
Changing the language of the console
The language selector is in the same avatar menu, under Language. It changes the console only.
Emails are currently sent in English regardless of the language you choose. We know that is an odd pairing and intend to fix it.
